*Due to the current shortage of trained machine shorthand stenographic reporters, Ryan Black Reporting offers an alternative of the use of Digital Reporters.
Digital Reporting is accomplished in “in-person” deposition settings by having an individual who has been trained in deposition procedures, sitting in lieu of a machine shorthand reporter. The record is captured through parties to the deposition wearing lavalier microphones and their voices being recorded through use of an audio mixer and digital recording software. The resulting audio would be the same as what is recorded during a “video deposition” by a legal videographer.
The captured audio is then transcribed into a final transcript and supplied to the parties. For the most part, there is very little difference in the end products, especially when the process is monitored and quality-checked by supervising trained reporters.
This process can also be accomplished via remote depositions such as Zoom depositions. Keep in mind that, just like regular Zoom depositions, this technology is only a good as the audio that is being received from the participants and it is best accomplished by utilizing a high-quality internet connection.
